New Activities, Spa Treatments and the Addition of Director of Wellness Operations Underscores Commitment to Join Global $4.5 Trillion Wellness Industry and Shine the Light on the Healing Powers of Hot Springs

River and Ledge with Steam
Pagosa Springs, CO – Home to the deepest geothermal hot spring in the world, The Springs Resort has wellness at its core. Measuring at 1002 feet deep (as tall as the Eiffel tower!), the healing waters support 25 soaking tubs set along the shores of the San Juan River in Pagosa Springs, Colorado, just 60 miles east of Durango, Colorado. New ownership in 2018 created a path for the 79-room property to join the $4.5 trillion global wellness industry by creating a position intended to emphasize and celebrate the health benefits of hot springs. New spa treatments and activities – both self-guided and instructor led – have been designed by Sharon Holtz, a hospitality veteran who now oversees the wellness philosophy and implementation at this award-winning resort. Below are the services which are being added to the menu this fall: Spa: Magnesium Muscle Melt: Magnesium, one of the 13 minerals in our geothermal water from the Mother Spring, is at the core of this treatment. It’s a power element vital to muscle function and energy generation in the body. Ease muscle tension with this soothing body treatment with a magnesium forest blend scrub that melts away stress, uplifts the spirit, and helps you recover from your adventures. It finishes with nourishing bliss butter to support and hydrate the skin. CBD Massage: Enjoy a more profound sense of relaxation using Cannabidiol (CBD) massage oil. This non-psychoactive element of the hemp plant helps alleviate anxiety, pain, and inflammation while boosting the immune system and aiding in restorative sleep. Wellness Activities: Stretch & Release: Join us for an opportunity to help ease muscle tension and promote flexibility in your muscles— a perfect complement to soaking in our soothing geothermal pools. Aqua Sound Bathing: Experience the deep sense of relaxation by combining the therapeutic benefits of soaking in our geothermal water with waves of harmonic sound that envelop the body from singing bowls. The combination helps relieve stress and anxiety, promoting a good night’s sleep. Gratitude Ceremony: A gathering at the Mother Spring to focus on gratitude for this extraordinary natural resource and all the healing benefits it brings. The focus then transfers to each individual and reflecting on that which they are most grateful. Warrior Plunge: We invite our guests to join us in this contrast bathing experience to bring out the courage of their inner warrior. It begins with soaking in a warm pool followed by a refreshing plunge in the San Juan River with a fun “warrior cry.” Benefits includedecreased inflammation and muscle soreness, strengthened immune and stress response, improved sleep and relaxation, bragging rights! Roll & Release: Perfect for after a day conquering the mountains or soaking in our geothermal waters, this myofascial release class will help to ease tension and facilitate the recovery of tight, sore muscles. Sharon Holtz was hired in early 2021 as the Director of Wellness Operations and brings 20+ years of experience with brands such as Mandarin Oriental, Starwood and Destination Resorts. “I’ve been fortunate enough to have visited hot springs on many continents in the world, in both natural and curated settings,” explains Holtz. “The opportunity to couple the healing power of the thermal waters here in Pagosa with other wellness therapies, feels like a wonderful way to use my experience in the wellness industry to help create offerings that can not only have a profound impact but also be accessible to all.” In addition to these new experiences, the resort makes its debut on the Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards for 2021 as the #10 Resort in Colorado.
